What is Server..? Types of Servers


The server is a highly configured computer designed to process requests and deliver data to client computers on a workgroup or a domain. Large and Medium Corporates implement different servers for various purposes.
Types of Servers
Web Server – Mainly used for hosting Website or Local Sites.
Email Server – This type of server is used for install and configures the email servers like Microsoft Exchange Server
Application Server - Sometimes referred to as a type of middleware, application servers occupy a large chunk of computing the territory between database servers and the end-user, and they often connect the two.
FTP Server – File Transfer Server is used for store files or data. FTP tool will help to move data from one location to another location. E.g. FileZilla Free FTP Solution
Access Management Server – Identity/Access Management server is used for authenticating the clients or users on a network.
HP – ProLiant Server
ProLiant is a brand of server computers that were originally developed and marketed by Compaq. After Compaq merged with Hewlett-Packard (HP), HP retired its former 'Netserver' brand in favor of the ProLiant brand. The brand is currently marketed by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE).
Lenovo – Think Server
The ThinkServer product line began with the TS100 from Lenovo. The server was developed under an agreement with IBM, by which Lenovo would produce single-socket and dual-socket servers based on IBM’s xSeries technology. An additional feature of the server design was a support package aimed at small businesses. The focus of this support package was to provide small businesses with software tools to ease the process of server management and reduce dependence on IT support.
Dell – Power Edge
The Dell PowerEdge (PE) the line is Dell's server computer product line. Most PowerEdge servers use the x86 architecture for higher performance. PowerEdge machines come configured as tower, rack-mounted, or blade servers. Dell uses a consistent chip-set across servers in the same generation regardless of packaging, allowing for a common set of drivers and system-images.

Fujitsu Server is one of the popular servers in the current market. Fujitsu Technology Solutions provides a broad range of information and communications technology-based products, services, and solutions including Servers, Desktops, and Laptops.
