Disable Automatic Updates - Windows Registry Edit

We have already discussed the Windows Update settings and how to disable the updates permanently through group policy. Today we are going to discuss another method to disable the updates. This method needs to change windows registry settings.  Let us look at how it is.
Prerequisites

• Using Registry Editor incorrectly will cause serious issues, system-wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows to correct them.

Step 1 – Open Registry

Step 2 – Navigate to the below path

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows

Step 3 – Find Windows and create New Key

Step 4 – Add Windows Update as the New Key name

Step 5 –Right-click the new key and create another new key

Step 6 – Name the new key as AU

Step 7 – Create new DWORD (32-bit) Value

Step 8 – Type the name NoAutoUpdate for the new DWORD value

Step 9 – Click the ‘NoAutoUpdate’ and Modify the value data from 0 to 1

Step 10 – Click OK

Step 12 – Restart the System for updating the settings
